What is the BETA Program?
The BETA Program at Gibbs High School is the business, economic, and technology academy, teaching students about business and technology in five different learning pathways. Students choose one or more pathways depending on space in their schedule and continue in these pathways for the duration of their education in the BETA program.
This program blends business and technological skills into the students’ academic courses. This academy uses hands-on
curriculum with Photography, Film, 3D Animation, Gaming and a real world simulated business class where students use their
critical thinking skills and hands-on curriculum to operate a business within the school. The ultimate goal of the program is for
students to leave with a portfolio of pathway items in an electronic format, accompanied with industry certifications within each
student’s chosen pathway of study. The academy courses are taught by instructors who have professional experience in his or her
respective field of teaching.
Software instruction includes: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Adobe InDesign, Adobe
Dreamweaver, Adobe Flash, Microsoft Office, Cisco, Microsoft Technology Associate Networking Fundamentals, and Comp TIA A+.
